"...clinical approach that fosters real growth..."
Jay’s clinical supervision style is insightful, strength-based, and harm reduction focused, helping clinicians build self-awareness in how they think and speak about the clients they serve.
He brings real experience across industries while deeply understanding the nuances of mental health, substance use, and the criminalization of social struggle. He teaches in a way that meets people where they are, offering guidance without shame and challenging thought processes through a trauma-informed, clinical approach that fosters real growth.
Jay bridges clinical work and policy so organizations live their missions in practice, not just theory. Through his influence, I saw stronger team culture, better client outcomes, and more self-aware, supported staff.

"...all our staff and clients are better off as a result of his input."
I co-led a series of clinical meetings with Jay, and was continuously impressed with the coaching he provided to program staff regarding their work with clients. Jay was able to help staff appreciate the value in getting to know their clients on a personal level. Jay helped people use imagination in finding new ways to work with clients. For example, asking about favorite foods, or helping a client to engage in a hobby, emerged as possible ways to further the work.
Jay’s compassion and dedication to empowering clients comes through clearly. This is reflected in his efforts to empower staff to work effectively, even in very difficult circumstances. I know I learned a lot from Jay, and I believe all our staff and clients are better off as a result of his input.

"...brings brilliance and innovation to every project."
I have known Jay Stevens for approximately five years through his work on an ACT team, as a lecturer and educator for the NYC Homeless Healthcare Fellowship, and as a collaborator on various projects focused on education of physicians.
Working with and learning from Jay has been an incredibly enriching professional experience. He brings brilliance and innovation to every project, but what truly sets him apart is the way he leads—with unwavering kindness and deep integrity.
